About This Spot

Step inside Kainan Sa Kanto, and you’re gently drawn into a corner of Lakewood where the familiar warmth of a family kitchen feels just right. This modest Filipino eatery hums with a quiet, unhurried energy — the kind that invites you to settle in and savor more than just a meal. It’s a place where the rhythm is dictated by the sizzle and stir from behind the counter, and where every plate seems to carry a story passed down from generations.

The space is intimate, the kind of neighborhood spot where the staff recognize faces or quickly welcome newcomers with genuine, unpretentious warmth. It’s easy to imagine the bustle as orders come in, each dish thoughtfully prepared with care despite the steady pace—a testament to the hands that know these flavors well. There’s an honest simplicity here that lets the ingredients and recipes speak for themselves, crafting moments that feel like sharing a meal in someone’s home.

What lingers in the air is the savory pull of garlic rice mingling with smoky pork BBQ and crispy pork sisig, balanced by pockets of sweetness like the golden, caramelized crunch of turon or the soft comfort of pan de coco fresh from the oven. Behind these familiar aromas are dishes that carry the quiet joy of Filipino culinary tradition — from hearty adobo and delicate bangus to vibrant sides featuring kamote and green beans that round out the plate with a homegrown touch.

The atmosphere is unpretentious but heartfelt, offering a pause from the rush outside, where flavors and kindness meet in equal measure. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick lunch or planning a return visit to explore the diverse flavors waiting beyond the first bite, Kainan Sa Kanto quietly reminds you of the beauty in simple, authentic moments shared over food.

Super nice staff, helped me pick out an order for lunch. Obviously a small operation, but they make amazing food!

I dropped in to try the food. I just ordered a BBQ stick and it was pretty good. The people there seemed nice and accommodating. Its a small little family spot with not a lot of seating.... all the food looked good. I was saving money for a haircut , but I will definitely be back and try the tilapia later this week. Over all this place is worth a 2nd visit . Thank you for the smile... I enjoyed yhe BBQ stick.

This an amazing establishment with many hardworking people churning out and amazing amount of freshly prepared Filipino foods that all taste and look delicious. I like the BBQ pork or chicken on a stick. Mungo is delish on garlic rice. Egg rolls are delicious. Turon is some of the best ever. Many fresh baked goods are available as well. I love this little place

We ordered the chicken adobo, beef steak and onion, chicken empanada, another beef or maybe goat that kinda tasted like birria, and sausage. FLAVOR! It was a little oily but besides that it tasted wonderful! The garlic rice is really good too and customer service was amazing!

A solid Filipino restaurant with a great selection of authentic Philippine dishes that’s ready to serve. I ordered their fried pork, beef tocino, fried bangus, adobo pork, bbq chicken skewers & bistek. Overall it was a good lunch especially with the garlic rice. Solid customer service & a spot to visit for Filipino food. I’d definitely come back again to try their other menu items.

Kainan Sa Kanto on Del Amo Blvd. in Lakewood is a hidden gem serving up delicious Filipino fare that will remind you of your Lola's or Ate's cooking. The star of the show here is definitely the lechon. The crispy skin gives way to perfectly tender meat, making it an absolute must-try. Every bite is a flavor explosion! They have a great selection of other dishes too. The pancit was another favorite, with a savory and satisfying taste. The chicken adobo was classically delicious, and the bbq skewers offered a delightful sweet and salty balance. For the more adventurous eaters, I recommend trying the cow tripe with peanut sauce kari kari. It was surprisingly tasty and well-prepared. No Filipino meal is complete without dessert, and Kainan Sa Kanto doesn't disappoint. Their turon, those amazing sweet egg rolls filled with plantains, are simply divine. And to cool off after a satisfying meal, their halo halo is the perfect way to end your visit. Overall, Kainan Sa Kanto is a fantastic restaurant that offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere along with incredible homemade Filipino food. I highly recommend checking it out!

Don't be scared off by the location in the corner spot of a small strip mall and unassuming interior. Selection of canned goods, frozen goods and desserts, variety of Filipino desserts. Also large selection of their prepared foods. I had tocino and 2 large sticks of pork bbq My Filipina wife had Bangus and young jack fruit prepared with coconut milk. We have fridge in our hotel room so we also got a small container of squash and green bean veggie mix. We also got a bag of Pan de Coco (bun with chocolate inside). All food we tried was so Lami/Masarap. We have been touring Canada and USA for 5+ weeks and were both missing Filipino food. KAINAN SA KANTO is a must try if you are living or visiting the Long Beach California area. While we were there 3 separate Filipina locals came and also got large orders - that is a good sign. The man who took our order was so friendly and he had 3 hard working people cooking behind him. He wished us a good rest of our holiday and hoped we would return next time in LA/Long Beach - we will for sure. Highly recommend this food and the portions are so big we each took out half of our order. The biggest problem is so many tasty choices to pick from!!
